Our Stroke School bridges the gap between swim lessons and competitive swimming. Stroke School picks up where lessons end - teaching not only safety skills, body alignment, and freestyle skills. We focus on improving each swimmer's stroke technique and seek to introduce all four competitive strokes. For more advanced students, our program can serve as a supplement to summer league swimming programs and can accommodate swimmers wanting to learn more advanced competitive skills. Stroke school is ideal for individuals wanting to stay physically fit.
Under the guidance of a professional coach, more advanced students learn and develop the four competitive strokes, racing starts, and turns. All skills necessary to swim FAST at a competitive level and summer league level will be emphasized.
As the session progresses, swimmers will be evaluated as to their potential to swim year round with the Nu Wave Swim Club. Stroke School swimmers will have the option to register and compete in USA swimming competitions for an additional fee.
Open to swimmers ages 5 & over who can willingly swim 15 yards unassisted.
Registration, class options, and prices are available online by selecting Stroke School from the Home Page. For Tuesday and Thursday classes, a Nu Wave swim instructor is available to collect Newman School swimmers in the Stern Foyer at 3:00 pm and walk them to the pool for class. We reserve the right to refund your registration cost if your swimmer does not meet the minimum swimming requirements.
